Our Story

The Arc of Woodbury is a non-profit organization serving Sioux City that provides individual and group advocacy, information regarding services, recreational opportunities and direct financial assistance.  The Arc of Woodbury is a non-profit organization founded in 1954, affiliated with The Arc of Iowa and The Arc of the United States; the nation's largest non-profit, volunteer organization devoted to improving the lives of people with disabilities. We receive financial support from memberships, and other donations.

Here at Arc of Woodbury County, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. Our decision making process is informed by comprehensive empirical studies and high quality data evaluation. We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact with all of our pursuits.

Summer Program

The Arc of Woodbury County facilitates a summer learning program in June and July of each year for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  The program has been in operation for more than 30 years and is the only one of its kind in Western Iowa.

Transit Services - Night & Weekend Vouchers

The Arc of Woodbury is a member of a community collaboration which ensures eligible transit riders greater access to programs and services which are available evenings and weekends. People with disabilities find the cost of transportation during these times expensive. The vouchers enable the individuals to be more mobile, enjoy an enriched quality of life, and access options for programs and services not available at other times and/or places.

The collaboration includes City of Sioux City Transit System, Business Community, and various area clubs and churches.
